Crash happens at corner of U.S. 1 and College Road

A Miami woman riding a motorcycle near Stock Island has died from injuries sustained in a crash Tuesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Reports say Susan Roldan, 41, of Miami was a passenger on a Honda motorcycle driven by 43-year-old Eduardo Ramirez of Davie. The pair was riding south on U.S. 1 near mile marker 4.5, when Chrissoula Griffith, 47, of Big Pine Key, turned left from College Road onto U.S. 1 into the path of the motorcycle.

Upon impact, Roldan and Ramirez were thrown from the motorcycle. Roldan was first taken to Lower Keys Medical Center in Key West, then flown to Ryder Trauma Center in Miami.

The crash reportedly happened at 5:02 p.m. and Roldan died from her injuries at 9:29 p.m.

She becomes the sixth fatality on Keys roads this year. Following are the previous highway deaths this year:
